About

dig Music activity status

I was born in Darwin, NT, Australia in 1955 and I have lived in Darwin for most of my life. I always thought of "The Territory" as a special place, full of unique and colourful characters with interesting stories and history. My own story is about growing up in Darwin in the 50's and 60's. I had a troubled childhood and became a delinquent teenager in the 70's and ended up serving time in Fannie Bay Gaol. You could say I launched my music career at age 9 after stealing a mouth organ (Harmonica) from the local supermarket. While I was serving time in Gaol I learned to play the guitar. After my release, I spent a lot of time singing and playing my guitar in public bars, family gatherings and bbq's. Darwin seemed to be an endless bbq in those days and there were a lot of people like me who played and sang at social funtions, this was the norm for Darwin. In the 80's there were quite a few talent quests and although I entered a few, I only won second place once. I was disheartened and thought it was all rigged, the judges in my opinion were favouring their own friends. In 1993 I was struck down by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and my social life came to an end. Around 1999 I bought a computer and discovered I could record music on it. In the beginning it was hard to get the software I needed since it just was'nt available in Darwin and when I did finaly get it, It took ages to learn to use it. Finaly I recorded a few demos which were taken to "Skinnyfish Music Publishing" by my cousin Lenore Demski. A contract was signed and now after one very long journey, my first album "Songs From The Buffalo Country" has been released.
