I'm just a girl from Melbourne who wants to change the world with my music. I love the way music speaks to people so personally and helps us all through the ups and downs of life. That I can create music and be apart of that makes me feel whole. Originally hailing from the world of musical theatre Danielle Matthews came into the spotlight in 2009 when she became Australia's inaugural Rob Guest Award winner. As part of her prize she set off for Broadway to work with the best vocal coaches in the world. Graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2005 Danielle went on to play the lead role of ‘FREAK’ in Anthony Crowley’s musical ‘TRIBE’ at the Arts Centre and in 2006 Danielle performed in ‘INSIDE OUT’, a show she wrote and toured around Australia to rave reviews. In 2007 Danielle joined Rhonda Burchmore and the cast of ‘Respect the Musical’ (Australia Tour) and in 2008 she left for Tokyo where she performed for a year as the blues Diva in one of Tokyo's most popular Shows ‘Big Band Beat'. Danielle began writing her own original music in 2006 and when she arrived home from America she began writing her first album ‘Fantasy’. She got together with Daniel Balog (guitar) and Josh Fotopolous (piano), ‘the boys’ and began to play and arrange the tracks from scratch. Danielle and ‘the boys’ gained sponsorship from ANZ and launched their demo of ‘Fantasy’ at the 2011 Rob Guest Endowment.Danielle and ‘the boys’ performed a new track from the upcoming full ‘Fantasy’ album at the Melbourne Town Hall in October in ‘Sing for a Cure’ with Mark Holden. Despite being new as a group Danielle’s experience and reputation within the the entertainment industry and the talent and energy of ‘the boys’ has already seen them receive thousands of hits on their web page per day and almost 10,000 views to the title track ‘Fantasy’ on youtube in less than a week after its release. FANTASY’(the teaser), is Danielle’s first CD of original music. Home grown in Australia with flavors from around the world.
