The Kinks' Ray Davies and former suede guitarist Bernard Butler are among those giving their backing to a new scheme aiming to combat music piracy.

Music Matters encourages legitimate music websites and retailers to display an official logo to show that they're operating legally.

The program launched overnight in the UK and the event included specially-commissioned videos - featuring artists like the late John Martyn (pictured above), Kate Bush, Nick Cave and the Jam - that are well worth a look...have a squizz at some of them here.

A great idea. The short-form videos about artists are excellent promotions for the cause, as well. Good examples of storytelling.
