The death of Wainwright's mother, folk singer Kate McGarrigle provided inspiration for Wainwright’s sixth studio album - a stripped back affair with just a grand piano and voice; his solo tour will likewise feature Wainwright alone at the piano.
In a message to his Australian fans, Rufus Wainwright said: “I’m definitely in need of some sweet down under sun and smiles.”

Thursday 14th October – Sydney Opera House
Friday 15 October – QPAC Concert Hall, Brisbane
Sunday 17 October – Festival Theatre, Adelaide
Monday 18 October – Perth Concert Hall
Thursday 21 October – State Theatre, Sydney
Sunday 24 October – Palais Theatre, Melbourne

Artist Biography
Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973) is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter and composer. He has recorded seven albums of original music and numerous tracks on compilations and film soundtracks. He has also written a classical opera and set Shakespeare sonnets to music for a theater piece by Robert Wilson.
