Veteran rockers Van Halen are the latest act to delete Australia from the world map.

The band's 2012 'world' tour will not include a stop Down Under, even though they'll be playing three gigs in Japan in late November.

Promoter Patrick Prendergast, who's been in talks with the band and their management since April said a deal had been "very, very close".

It's the second time the band has bypassed Australia...they were due to headline last year's Soundwave Revolution festival but pulled out after the event collapsed.
