"I haven’t got a speech,” said Kilbey as he strode up to the mic at The Church’s induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in Sydney this week.
Close to twelve entertaining minutes later, he'd managed to gently tease TV pundit Richard Wilkins about his fluffy hair and fellow inductee Johnny Young about his unique clapping style. He'd also managed to reel off several anecdotes and recite a verse of John Williamson's Old Man Emu, prompting ARIA host Julia Zemiro to declare: “Give that man his own show!”

Steven John Kilbey is the lead singer-songwriter and bass guitarist for The Church, an Australian rock band. He is also a music producer, poet, and painter. Kilbey began his professional music career at age 17 when he joined a five piece "cabaret band" called 'Saga' in Canberra, Australia. Well deserved, the Church - great recognition for such a great band. And great to see Tim Powles up on stage getting the award - he was the drummer in the band who were responsible for the first album I bought with my own money!
