Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is to tiptoe in the footsteps of Tiny Tim, Amanda Palmer and George Formby by releasing a ukulele album.

Cat Power and Frames frontman Glen Hansard guest on the disc - imaginatively titled Ukulele Songs - which along with 12 originals features covers of the Everly Brothers' 'Sleepless Nights', the Mamas and the Papas' 'Dream a Little Dream', uke classic 'Tonight You Belong To Me', and even a Pearl Jam ditty, 'Can't Keep'.

Trivia time: the ukulele is most associated with music of Hawaii, where the name translates as "jumping flea".
