Triffids fans stir the pot
80s Aussie rock band The Triffids have hit the headlines again after West Australian Premier Colin Barnett became entangled with complaints from fans, angry at the removal of a heritage listing on 'The Cliffe', the Perth house where the many of the band's songs were composed.
Mr Barnett is the subject of a complaint to the state's Corruption and Crime Commission by Sydney public servant Brian Waldron, who told the watchdog that the Premier had a conflict of interest in recommending the lifting of the listing.
Premier Barnett hit back at the allegations, saying that the action was nothing more than a desperate attempt by Triffids hangers-on to save the house, and that it bordered "somewhere between mischievous, malicious and even criminal"
