A key stop will be 77 Barton Street, where Curtis lived with his wife Debbie, wrote many of his songs and, at 23, killed himself 30 years ago today. The walk will continue to the town crematorium where a memorial – bearing the words of the song Love Will Tear Us Apart – has become a shrine for fans around the world.
Walkers will be encouraged to visit the pubs, clubs and rehearsal spaces – such as the Travellers' Rest and Krumbles nightclub – where Joy Division first played.
In addition to the tour, the Northern Chamber Orchestra are planning to work with Macclesfield schoolchildren to produce a ‘Joy Division Symphony’ based on the band's music.
Let's just hope it doesn't rain....

Er...yes...it's a bit scary how long a go it was...and I'm not sure what Ian would think about local schoolkids working on his music...
