Rufus Wainwright has announced that he is returning to Australia this October to play the Sydney Opera House, with more national dates to be confirmed soon. The Opera House gig is a thank you to fans who bought tickets for last February's shows which were cancelled following the death of Wainwright's mother Kate McGarrigle.
Tickets for his Sydney Opera House concert on Thursday 14 October will go on sale next Friday.
But wait...there's more...UK 3 piece Muse will also return to Oz for four arena shows this December, promising to "pull out all the stops" in a series of gigs showcasing their fifth studio album Resistance.
Muse tour dates:
Sunday 5th December – Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
Thursday 9th December – Acer Arena, Sydney
Tuesday 14th December – Rod Laver Arena, December
Sunday 19th December – Bassendean Oval, Perth
Tickets are on general sale on Monday 7th June. There will be a muse.mu fan pre-sale on Friday 4th June.

Rufus McGarrigle Wainwright (born July 22, 1973) is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter and composer. He has recorded seven albums of original music and numerous tracks on compilations and film soundtracks. He has also written a classical opera and set Shakespeare sonnets to music for a theater piece by Robert Wilson.
