Sufjan Stevens has contributed music to MAKE, a documentary about four self-taught artists.

Stevens' 2010 album The Age of Adz was inspired by the life story of one of the artists featured, Prophet Royal Robertson, and now he's returning the favour, calling the film "a beautiful and insightful look at the sublime task of making art when nothing else will do".

Stevens' label Asthmatic Kitty will release MAKE on DVD On June 21.

Stevens first began releasing his music on Asthmatic Kitty, a label co-founded with his stepfather, beginning with the 1999 release, A Sun Came.
