Can it be true? The Led Zeppelin classic Stairway to Heaven apparently owes its cult status to...cigarettes.

Led Zep biographer Charles R Cross insists that upwards of a hundred radio presenters he's spoken to admitted that they used to regularly play the track because it was the perfect length for a ciggie break.

As for the song's popularity within the band itself, guitarist Jimmy Page loves playing the track live, especially the epic guitar break in the second half, whilst vocalist Robert Plant says he now “loathes” the song.
