According to brother Liam, Noel Gallagher wanted to leave Oasis before their very public split at last year’s V Festival.

Liam has told UK music station Xfm “Someone’s telling porkies – and it weren’t me...Noel wanted out, but fair play to him, that’s life. I’m not going to dwell on it”.

Originally known as The Rain, the group was formed by Liam Gallagher (vocals and tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums, percussion), who were soon joined by Liam's older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar and vocals). As of June 2009, Oasis had sold over 70 million records
