Singers steel themselves
The album, recorded by the Go-Betweens’ Robert Forster and mixed by US indie producer Nicholas Vernhes - who’s worked with the likes of Animal Collective and Deerhunter - is a collection of trademark psychedelic pop tunes from the band who describe themselves as “Purveyors of glorious backyard summer pop melodies and adorable baby-faced grins”.
The first single release, Masochist, is out now, and the band is hitting the road to play shows around the nation during October and November, supported by fellow Brisbanites Little Scout.

Artist Biography
The John Steel Singers are a six piece band from Brisbane, Australia, named after a toy horse that band member Tim Morrissey named John Steel. They were formed in 2007 when Morrissey and Scott Bromiley decided to start making music together and were soon joined by Ross Chandler, Pete Bernoth, Pat McDermott and Luke McDonald.
