Ronnie's recollections

Ronnie Wood
Aug 11, 2010 Updated Aug 16, 2010

Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has stumbled across a diary he kept in the 60s - and he wants to publish it.

The diary covers a period in 1965 when Wood was 18 years old and playing in London R&B band the Birds, just before joining The Faces and eventually the Rolling Stones.

63-year-old Ronnie enthused, "Some of it is just astonishing - I reckon I could publish the thing as it is".

With bandmate Keith Richards' tell-all tome due to hit bookshelves this year, is there room for another author in the band?

"Keith's book will do well, I'm sure...he is a very eloquent man" Said Wood, generously. "My diary is interesting too though."

Ronnie Wood was in two of the greatest bands ever; The Face and The Rolling Stones.
The Faces stuff really stands up to the test of time. They are a band that does not have a huge profile here in Oz but are worth seeking out as an important part of the puzzle of modern rock. A bridge between The Rolling Stone and Led Zeppelin, if you like. And a lot better band than The Who and a zillion others.

Ronnie Wood joined the Stones and fitted immediately like a glove. His first full album with the band was Black & Blue, an under rated album (and my fav Stones outing). If you haven't heard it or don't rate Ronnie Wood download Hey Negrita and Hand of Faith . . . then reconsider.

In closing, I would like to speculate that the name Ronnie is the most rocking and rolling-est boys name.
Ronnie Wood, Ronnie Lane and Ronnie James Dio . . . can anyone top it for coolness and cred?

Peace-out,

Hi Ern...ta for the post.

Reckon you could be right about The Faces...maybe their contribution has been overshadowed a bit by Rod Stewart's subsequent solo career...?

There are some notable not-quite-so-cool Ronnies, though...Corbett, Barker and Biggs, to name but a few...
