Rock photographer Jim Marshall dies at 74
The iconic photographer died in his sleep.
Marshall served in the American Air Force and became a professional photographer following a meeting with John Coltrane where he used up several rolls of film photographing him.
Record labels soon began hiring Marshall to photograph artists while they were working in the studio, and he developed strong relationships with many stars of that era.
When the Beatles played their final 1966 concert in San Francisco, Marshall was granded full backstage access, and he traveled with the Rolling Stones on their 1972 tour.
