The Glasgow-based rockers were working on their next release in an LA studio when Lightbody's muse apparently left the building “I couldn’t even write my name on a cheque" he told Q Magazine "It was that bad".
Fortunately, Stipe was on hand to rescue the hapless Lightbody and offer him some tips. “Michael just made a few suggestions here and there" Says a grateful Gary, "On a track called ‘New York’ there was a line, ‘Your face has never left me.’ He said, ‘That sounds like you’ve got a girl’s head in your bag.’ So we changed that.”
