Rankin rocks again

Crime author Ian Rankin is following in the footsteps of fellow writer Nick Hornby into a musical career.

Well...sort of. Even though Rankin was once in a band called The Dancing Pigs whilst at university, his musical career had taken a back seat - until now.

He's written the words for a piece called 'A Little Bit Of Powder' with music by Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess. "I timed myself reading it and found that it ran to around 15 minutes" says Rankin. "Tim had wanted five to six minutes...I got busy with the editing scissors".
