Powderfinger to pull the plug...?

Rumours abound that Bernard and the boys are planning to call it a day once their current contract expires.

A source referred to as "A well-placed music industry insider" has told the Daily Telegraph newspaper that the band is preparing to announce the split and are already planning a farewell tour. Their next album Golden Rule is due out at the beginning of November, which leaves one final album plus a hits compilation to fulfil as part of their contract with Universal music.

However...Powderfinger manager Paul Pitico claims to have no knowledge of such plans, saying "That's news to me".

From 1992 until their breakup the band lineup consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bassist John Collins, and drummer Jon Coghill.
