According to the more than 47,000 folks who voted, Powderfinger’s 'Odyssey Number Five' is triple j's Hottest Australian Album of All Time.

The band’s fourth record, released in 2000, pipped Silverchair’s Frogstomp into second place ahead of AC/DC’s Back In Black at number three.

Powderfinger, who called it quits after a national tour late last year, tweeted their gratitude to voters with “Thanks to all you voters...We're so excited and grateful for the love.”

From July 11 – 22, ABC Digital Radio will be broadcasting ‘triple j hottest’, the whole 100 albums from the Hottest 100 Australian Albums of All Time - start to finish. Details here

Powderfinger was an Australian rock band that formed in Brisbane in 1989. From 1992 until their breakup the band lineup consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bassist John Collins, and drummer Jon Coghill. Powderfinger became a commercial success with their third studio album Internationalist in 1998. They followed up that success with several hit singles...

I'd would have voted for Radio Birdman - Radios Appear as did Richard Kingsmill.

A different league in creativity, musical influence, and energy.
