Old punk slams the new
Lydon singled out US neo-punksters Green Day for special attention, saying "I can't stand them".
In an interview with the LA Times, the artist formerly known as Johnny Rotten - who turns 55 next week - was particularly peeved at the news that Green Day intend to take their musical American Idiot to Broadway.
"To me, they’re like coat hangers, and haven’t earned the right, they haven’t earned the wings, to be wearing the mantle of punk." He says.

I totally agree. Whilst I like Green Day any resemblance to the sex pistols is non existent. Pistols were one of a one off Punk group in 1977 and so individual that they killed themselves. Green Day are good but not unique and do not deserve any comparison. Lydon is right as usual.
