Mystery surrounds Lennon Lyrics

John Lennon
Jul 27, 2009 Updated Jul 28, 2009

Handwritten lyrics by the Liverpool legend have fans in a tizz.

The lyrics are thought to date from around 1966, and are on show as part of a new exhibition White Feather - The Spirit of Lennon, created by Lennon's first wife Cynthia and son Julian.

Julian has hinted that he may even use the lyrics as the basis for a song of his own in honour of his late father.

Despite intensive research, Beatles scholars remain baffled, since no further trace of the lyrics have been found in any of Lennon's music, published or unpublished.

Perhaps you recognise them?

And this time I just have to say
I love you
If she turns you down and you're rejected
Try again the best you can
Call to see her when you're least expected
Tell her now she'll understand.
