Cee Lo Green
Mar 2, 2011 Updated Mar 4, 2011

Cee-Lo Green's recent saucy hit...you know the one...is in a 3-way tie for a dubious honour...

Following Cee-Lo Green's recent performance of  '**** You' on this year's Grammys, the song has zoomed to the number 2 spot on the US Billboard charts, placing it in a 3-way tie best chart performance for a song with a rude word in the title.

The other two songs, which also reached #2 on the chart, are '****** Perfect' by Pink and Meredith Brooks' somewhat milder 1997 hit, 'Bitch'.

Billboard has even compiled a list of the highest-charting songs with titles that contain words which it considers are best excluded from polite company, even though they're largely a pretty mild bunch...in fact, those of you with a nervous disposition, don't bother looking away:

  • 'Gives You Hell' by All American Rejects, #4 in 2009
  • 'Damn!' by Youngbloodz featuring Lil' John, #4 in 2003
  • 'The Bitch Is Back' by Elton John, #4 in 1974
  • 'Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover' by Sophie B. Hawkins, #5 in 1992
  • 'What the Hell' by Avril Lavigne, which so far has peaked at #11 this year
  • 'Shake Ya Ass' by Mystikal, #13 in 2000
  • '**** It (I Don't Want You Back)' by Eamon, #16 in 2004

Apparently the highest-charting song with an eyebrow-raising title is actually Kelly Clarkson's 2009 hit "My Life Would Suck Without You," which made it to number one, but frankly we don't think that's anywhere near rude enough.
