UK folk-rockers Mumford and Sons have announced their Gentlemen of the Road small-town stopover - and the winner is...

Dungog, a timber and dairy town on the Williams River in NSW's Upper Hunter Valley.

The town's population of 2,102 is likely to be boosted somewhat when Marcus and Co. hit town on October 20, bringing with them a swag of acts including Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Sarah Blasko and Husky for what's described as a 'Victorian travelling circus'.

The band consists of Marcus Mumford (lead vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums), Winston Marshall, and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar).
