Yesterday in New York, a man named Rafael Ramos entered a Citibank branch claiming he was Paul Simon and attempted to withdraw $4,300 out of the singer’s bank account.
Whereas the 68-year-old internationally-famous singer is just 5 feet 3 inches tall, 54-year-old Ramos is a towering 6 foot 1 and of hispanic appearance, which Simon...isn't.
Undaunted, Ramos came to the Citibank wielding a forged credit card and driver’s license bearing Simon’s name, as well as the singer’s social security number, but still failed to fool the eagle-eyed teller, who had obviously been paying attention to popular culture at some point during the past 68 years.
Ramos, realizing his cunning plan had backfired, quickly ran out of the bank, but police scooped him up...before he could impersonate anyone else.
