Paul McCartney plays bass

Sir Paul McCartney has severed his ties with EMI records and has agreed a deal with independent label Concord to re-release his back catalogue of solo and Wings material.

Sir Paul said: "I'm always looking for new ways and opportunities to get my music to people."

Macca's departure from EMI follows that of acts including The Rolling Stones, Crowded House and Radiohead, who have also left the embattled label in recent months.
