Lynyrd Skynyrd lose their muse
Skinner was teaching at the Robert E Lee high school in Jacksonville in the 60s when he sent a group of students to the principal's office because their hair was too long. They rewarded him by forming a band using a mangled version of his name.
Skinner, who was none too impressed when he first discovered the connection, eventually mellowed, allowing the band to use a photo of his Leonard Skinner Real Estate sign for the inside of their third album, and even introducing them onstage at one of their home town gigs.
