The new Flaming Lips album, 'Embryonic', is released October 13, but you can hear it online right now...

As you might expect from a band renowned for their love of innovation, the approach to writing the album was a trifle unorthodox...

Instead of writing each song track by track, the record began as long improvised sessions which were recorded at Lips multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd's house; these sessions were then  given to producer Dave Fridmann, who helped the band massage them into songs.
