Lip sync-ers sunk

Britney Spears
Last updated Nov 9, 2009

Artistes performing in NSW venues may be forced to alert fans if they intend on miming during their shows.

The announcement coincides with the start of Britney Spears' Australian tour, during which she will lip-sync most of her performance.

The US singer will perform 15 concerts in Australia, starting in Perth on Friday, followed by Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before finishing in Adelaide on November 29.

Referring to Spears' childhood role in the Disney Mouseketeers, NSW Fair Trading Minister Virginia Judge said that Sydneysiders would not tolerate a "Mickey Mouse performance".

"Let's be clear - live means live," she said.

According to the minister, NSW Government would be happy to look at various options, including a disclaimer on concert tickets advising consumers that the performance is pre-recorded.

Yah, I thought singers used their voices as the instrument, so why Pretend to be singing?
That's what a mime artist would be doing .... making you think they're singing. The one with the voice gets paid heaps more too so work for it !
