Lemmy: Mayer, Bieber, nuts - please explain

Lemmy
Feb 25, 2011 Updated Mar 1, 2011

There aren't many artists known only by their first name...there's Cher, Madonna, Lassie - and of course Lemmy, and he wants some answers!

Motorhead's legendary frontman - christened Ian Kilmister and renamed Lemmy for his constant attempts to borrow cash - is renowned for giving his all when performing or recording, and so it's fair to say he's a trifle dismayed at the current state of the music industry.

“It kills me how bland this period is,” Kilmister says. “You go backstage these days and you see 20 bottles of Perrier and a bag of nuts. What’s wrong with this ******* picture? Everything is so healthy today and it’s terrible.”

But wait...there's more: “What the **** is it about John Mayer?” Kilmister asks. “Someone should explain him to me...the same goes for Justin Bieber. It’s a shame these people are popular entertainers.”

And as for Rap and Hip Hop, don't get him started: “There’s nothing creative about rapping over music someone else created... You think they could come up with sounds of their own... and they can’t do it. Sad.”
