Released last week, sales are projected to reach between 175,000 and 200,000, which is big for band who’ve been out of the mainstream spotlight more than a decade.
The strong sales figures are also significant because the album is being sold exclusively through Target, iTunes, the band’s website and independent record shops.
During their career, which has spanned almost twenty years, Pearl Jam’s albums have tended to hit the upper levels of the charts. 1993’s Vs. and 1994’s Vitalogy both topped out at Number One, while Ten, Yield, Binaural and Pearl Jam all reached Number Two.
Riot Act is the band’s only studio album not to have made it to number One or Two.

Since its inception, the band's line-up has included Eddie Vedder (vocals), Stone Gossard (guitar), Jeff Ament (bass), and Mike McCready (guitar).
