Is this worth $1 Million?
On July 25th, 1965, Bob Dylan played a three-song set at Rhode Island's Newport Folk Festival, using a 1964 Fender Stratocaster. The performance marked Dylan's transformation from folkie to rocker and became the stuff of legend; what happened to the guitar is another matter.
Now a team of TV researchers has told New Jersey resident Dawn Peterson that she has it in her home. Her father was a private pilot who worked for Dylan's manager in the mid-1960s. "After one flight, my father saw there were three guitars left on the plane," she says.
In the guitar case were 13 pages of typed and handwritten song lyrics, adding fuel to the fire.
However, Dylan himself disputes that the find is genuine...his lawyer issued a statement which reads "Bob has possession of the electric guitar he played at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965,"
If it does indeed prove to be authentic, the guitar is estimated to be worth as much as $1 million.
