The completion date for construction is hoped to coincide with what would have been his 70th Birthday and will feature stepping stones with his lyrics, rain drums, a sculpted butterfly garden, a performance area, a sound garden and ample green space.
Jimi's sister Janie Hendrix is a major financial contributor to the park, as well as support from the Parks and Green Spaces Opportunity Fund and the Neighborhood Matching Fund Award in Seattle.

This is one of the most original honors any musician could receive! Go Seattle! Jimi invented Metal and everything Rock knows about the guitar after 1970 came from his psychedelic twisting of what the instrument could do. I paid homage to Hendrix with a portrait called Purple Haze on the anniversary of his passing recently. You can see it at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/09/purple-haze-jimi-hendrix.html and tell me how the voodoo child’s music has influenced you!
