Glastonbury's furry faux pas

The Wombles
Jun 10, 2011 Updated Jun 14, 2011

Glastonbury festival organiser Michael Eavis says the inclusion of novelty band The Wombles in this year's lineup was "a mistake".

The reunited act - headed by composer Mike Batt, who also wrote the theme for the original TV series - are lined up to play the Avalon Stage of the festival on June 26 alongside headliners including Beyonce, U2 and Coldplay.

Eavis told the BBC: "I've got about 25 stages and managers and bookers for each of the stages. I can't control every single one of them but I do get cross about that kind of thing."

A mildly-peeved Batt responded that although the band were still keen to play, they had withdrawn their offer to tidy up the festival site afterwards.
