The Break
Jan 22, 2010 Updated Mar 20, 2010

Surf's up for a new band that mixes Oils, water and Violent Femmes.

Midnight Oil founding members Rob Hirst, Jim Moginie and Martin Rotsey , togther with Violent Femmes bass player Brian Ritchie have indulged their shared love of old surf music by forming a new band, The Break.

While Midnight Oil were known for their politically and socially aware lyrics, The Break's songs will be largely instrumental.

The band wrote and recorded 15 tracks in nine days for their debut album Church Of The Open Sky, which hits the shops on April 16.
