Wilson received authorisation from the Gershwin estate to work on the unfinished material, which is more than seven decades old.
Gershwin, who died in 1937 aged just 38, left behind dozens of unfinished pieces ranging from individual bars of music to almost-completed songs.
While the material in question will likely remain as instrumental pieces, Wilson didn't rule out the possibility of transforming Gershwin's work into something more...Wilsonesque, saying "I can't decipher the verse from the chorus from the bridge, so I'm going to try to insert some new music into them."
