Geldof's Live Aid story turned into movie
Geldof is played in the telemovie by Domhnall Gleeson, who stars in the upcoming seventh Harry Potter film.
The BBC production tells the story of Geldof and a host of rock stars who record a Christmas album for charity, but upon visiting Africa to ensure the proceeds are distributed fairly, realise more needs to be done, so they stage a massive televised international charity gig, which takes place simultaneously in London and Philadelphia.
The real 1985 concert, which was organised by Geldof and music promoter Harvey Goldsmith, reached an estimated 1.5 billion people and went a long way in promoting the public and political profile of African people suffering from poverty, starvation and disease.
