In his keynote address at SXSW at the weekend Sir Bob attacked Hollywood, Duran Duran, Music Festivals, Facebook, Apple, Blogging and Glee.

He also opined that music creativity was at “the end of relevance”. “Where are the Sex Pistols and The Ramones of today?,” he asked. “Rock n Roll must be about the society in which its bred. Its not about your house, car or hair”.

He then went on to perform tracks from his new album How To Compose Popular Songs That Sell.

He rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats in the late 1970s and early 1980s alongside the punk rock movement.
