According to the website, the official reason for the withdrawal is “scheduling issues”.
However, there's no mention of any cancellation on either Gabriel's official site or that of the gig's promoter Andrew McManus, where tickets for the event still appear to be on sale.

PG, please don't take this as a sign of lack of support from your Aussie fans. I for one would have flown from Perth to see you but having a shared bill like a festival of "who's who" didn't interest me. I'm passionate about your stuff, but don't care for the rest that much to spend big dollars on airfares & accommodation etc when prices are already inflated because of the Cup. Different matter if it was just you; that I would have gladly done! Please come sometime soon, but just your gang and then see the support you have.
I couldn't agree more with Tlee21 and I live in Melbourne. Gabriel is a master. As for the other crew AAAAAHHHHG
