Franz Ferdinand made a surprise return to the UK live music scene on the weekend.

The Glasgow band were guests at All Tomorrow’s Parties, the Minehead festival curated this year by their mates Belle and Sebastian.

The band played a 13 song set including 'Matinee', 'Michael' and a cover of the Sonics' 'The Witch'.

Singer Alex Kapranos and guitarist Nick McCarthy also joined Edwyn Collins during his set for 'Do It Again', with Alex  helping out on 'A Girl Like You'.

Franz Ferdinand are currently working on a new album, although no new material was played at the event.

The band is composed of Alex Kapranos, Bob Hardy, Nick McCarthy, and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion and backing vocals).
