'finger farewell sells out

Tickets for Powderfinger's farewell tour sold out across most capital cities within minutes of going on sale.

More than 140,000 tickets have already been purchased by fans for the band's Sunsets tour which went on sale at 9am on Friday.

The September-October tour will visit 21 cities in every state and territory, and will be the final curtain call for the Brisbane band who announced their split last month after more than 20 years together.

Powderfinger was an Australian rock band that formed in Brisbane in 1989. From 1992 until their breakup the band lineup consisted of vocalist Bernard Fanning, guitarists Darren Middleton and Ian Haug, bassist John Collins, and drummer Jon Coghill. Powderfinger became a commercial success with their third studio album Internationalist in 1998. They followed up that success with several hit singles...
