Fans to fund Palmer project

US alt-rocker Amanda Palmer is calling on fans to help her release her first new studio album in four years.

The album - which was recorded in Melbourne with St Vincent and Modest Mouse producer John Congleton - is part of a package will also include a visual art exhibit featuring 30 visual artists who have created work inspired by the album, plus an 18-month world tour and a swag of remixes and video projects.

Amanada is hoping fans will help bankroll the project via online funding program Kickstarter, with incentives ranging from a digital download of the album for one dollar to a live portrait sitting painted by Amanda herself and including wine and dinner for a mere ten grand.
