Mental As Anything, Little Pattie, Kev Carmody, The Dingoes and John Paul Young were all honoured at the bash at the city's Forum theatre.
It was an awkward reunion for the Mentals with former drummer David Twohill, who recently sued the rest of the band for unfair dismissal. "The last time we saw him was in court", quipped frontman Greedy Smith.
Whilst Twohill received the award with the rest of the band, he was not onstage when the band ripped through Mentals classics Live It Up, The Nips are Getting Bigger and If You Leave Me Can I Come Too, where they were joined for the first time in eight years by founder members Reg Mombassa and Peter O'Doherty, who nowadays perform as Dog Trumpet.
