Eno's Apollo transformed

Brian Eno
Jul 24, 2009 Updated Jul 27, 2009

A classic Eno album has been reworked for the 40th Anniversary of NASA's moon mission.

London's Science Museum recently played host to an Apollo 11 40th Anniversary event, which featured a re-arrangement of Brian Eno's album Apollo, accompanying Al Reinert's moon-mission doco For All Mankind.

South Korean composer Jun Lee adapted Apollo for contemporary musical collective Icebreaker, whose weapons of choice include synthesisers, accordion, pan pipes and pedal steel guitar.

Apollo was originally recorded in 1983, even though the film was not released until 1989.

Since then, the work has been featured in the movies 28 Days Later, Traffic and Trainspotting, and has gone on to sell more than 4 million copies.
