Cook your own

Vinyl Cutter
Mar 22, 2012 Updated Mar 23, 2012

Vinyl...it was cold but now it's both cool AND hot - so why not make your own?

For a mere $4200, the VinylRecorder T560 - currently on show at SXSW - allows you to cut your own blank 5, 7, 10 and 12 inch platters at 33, 45 or 78 RPM. But before you decide to shell out for some street cred, be aware that the thing looks like a Heath Robinson contraption and is very probably devilishly complicated to operate.

You'll also need to provide certain components - including a high quality turntable - yourself.

Sometimes it's easier just to sit back and listen...

I don't see how this could be useful, but still I want one so.

Me too. I'm pretty sure it would make some cool smoothies. ;)
