Cave for Canberra?

Nick Cave
Aug 20, 2010 Updated Aug 23, 2010

Renaissance man Nick Cave has been voted the musician Australians would most like to see installed as prime minister.

The singer, author and occasional actor fought off competition from Powderfinger's Bernard Fanning and John Butler in the MySpace poll, which managed to attract over 300 thousand votes.

On hearing the news, Cave quipped: "My first political act will be to introduce legislation forcing all Australians to lower their expectations."

According to the poll, other musicians apparently worthy of running the country included Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Dame Edna Everage and Kylie Minogue.

Hmmm, I know you young people love Nick but wouldn't his world view be a bit grim?
Clearly though he would do a better job than Peter Garrett but that is thin praise at best.
Dave Graney comes to mind for his charisma and Clare Moore would be hot as first lady, though I think DG's taste for John Pilger Doco-ganda would indicate he is a bit delusional.

My posting last week suggesting Ronnie as the Rockin-ous name failed to include one of the great rockin Ronnie Van Zandt. I appologise for this oversight.
