An image posted to The Cars' Facebook page has sparked rumours that the new wave pioneers are set to reunite.

Although the band haven't performed together since 1987, the photo shows Ric Ocasek, Greg Hawkes, Elliot Easton and David Robinson jamming in the studio - the band's bassist Benjamin Orr, died of pancreatic cancer in 2000.

Last week, the Boston Globe asked keyboardist Greg Hawkes if a reunion was likely. "I hate to be vague, but I really can't say," he said, coyly.
