Bob Dylan heads an impressive first announcement lineup for next year's Byron Bay Bluesfest.

BB King, Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, Mavis Staples and Michael Franti also feature alongside local acts including Jeff Lang, Ash Grunwald, Washington, Xavier Rudd and Kate Miller-Heidke.

Bluesfest director Peter Noble calls it "The best line-up we've had in years."

Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, is an American singer-songwriter, musician and artist. He has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for five decades. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when he was an informal chronicler and a seemingly reluctant figurehead of social unrest.
