Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has checked into rehab after an expletive-laden onstage dummy-spit.

The band performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas at the weekend, but Armstrong lost the plot when he thought their set was being cut short.

Unfortunately, there aren't enough asterisks available to print exactly what Billie Jo said before smashing his guitar and storming off stage, but if you really want to know, you can watch a video of the meltdown via our website.

It's not clear at this stage whether Armstrong's self-imposed cleanup will affect Green Day's proposed trip Down Under early next year.
