ARIAs "special", says Gudinski
In his keynote speech at the launch of the Australian Music Prize nominations in Sydney on Wednesday, the Mushroom Records boss challenged new ARIA chief executive Dan Rosen to remove what he called "irrelevant people" from the ceremony, which last year was criticised for its over-complicated format and poor production.
The ARIAs celebrate their 25th anniversary this year and Gudinski believes the world will be watching what he feels is quote "a special night, which should stand up alongside the Grammys and the BRITs".

I would like to pose the question I've wanted to ask for years
Why has Crowded House NOT been inducted into the hall of fame?? they are one of the most talented acts out there and it is the 25th anniversary of their debut album this year.
Seriously, Australia is so big at having 'claimed them as our own' since day one yet they are overlooked year after year.
Come on ARIA let's get some acts with talent back this year
would be nice to have crowded house inducted into aria's hall of fame, 25 years since the first LP this year, well overdue i'd say
I also think it's about time Crowded House made the hall of fame. I think the ARIA's and Crowded House's shared 25th anniversary is the perrfect time to do so.

Couldn't agree more with Michael. Watching the AMP Awards in person the other day was so much fun, made all the more special as it was hosted by Alexander Oh Mercy and Kram Spiderbait. Two actual musicians, hosting a music event - what an amazing concept! Alexander in particular was a classic.
Crowded House are a great band and their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame is well over due, so come on lets make 2011 a celebration of Crowded House, 25 years after their debut album but better late than never.

What a joy it would be to see and hear artists with genuine talent take over the ARIAs
There is so little REAL talent left in music that is on offer today, everyone either sounds the same or the music is so manufactured it sounds like nothing.
Make 2011 the year we embrace the people who make actual music, meaningful music, music with something to say.
And for me, yes I agree with most of the posts already here...........why are'nt Crowded House already in the ARIA Hall Of Fame ?? 25 years of quality music, more than a truckload of support for charity,more talent than 90% of what ARIA thrust on us in 2010, what EXACTLY is 'required of them' for ARIA to give them the prize?

So many Australians have grown up with the music of Crowded House. It is a real shame that they haven't been recognised in such a way (so far)! Let's have the Crowdies inducted this year :D

I'm surprised Crowded House aren't in the hall of fame already. Their albums are fantastic. Who's in it, then, AC/DC, INXS and ??? The BeeGees?

Crowded House certainly more than 'fit' ARIA guidelines.

More importantly.....This has to be the year for MADDER LAKE!
They were Mushroom Records first Gold Album....and the very first 100% Australian owned, written, performed and recorded album.....even Slim Dusty couldn't claim that!
They were the opening band at the first Sunbury Music Festival, and subsequently played at everyone of them after that, including the year that the fabulous Freddie Mercury & Queen were booed off stage for them.
They supported the Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann and many other big names.
They are an enormous part of Australian Music History!
It's their turn!
Never heard of them personally but they do induct more than one artist each year to the Hall Of Fame so there is room for both.
Mary, I have sent two emails to ARIA and left a message/comment on their facebook wall abou the Hall Of Fame this year and if The Crowdies will be considered but I did'nt a reply either, in fact I know quite a few people who have emailed asking and nobody has gotten a reply
